In loving memory of

Steven Anthony Middlemist

STEVEN ANTHONY MIDDLEMIST was born on August 23rd, 1964 in La Jara, Colorado, to Andy and Genia Middlemist on their 6th wedding anniversary. Steve passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 25, 2020 after a year long battle with cancer. He fought this battle with bravery, humor, and his usual orneriness throughout, often entertaining those around him. Steve was a people person who loved to talk to everyone from the time he could walk and talk. He was always the most vibrant personality in the room. Steve was loved by many and will be missed dearly, especially by his beloved fur-babies Ricky and Bella. On behalf of Steve and the entire Middlemist family, we would like to thank all of you who supported Steve over this past year, it meant the world to him and us.

Steve is survived by his mother Genia Middlemist; sisters, Shari Silva, Sandi (Pat) Stockton; brothers, Scott (Martha) Middlemist, Sean (Kimberly) Middlemist; nieces, Andrea (John) Miller, Brooke Silva, Claire Middlemist; nephews, Peter Middlemist, Ayden and Sawyer Middlemist; great nephews, Johnny and Leo Miller; and many friends and relatives. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Andy Middlemist; grandparents, Pete and Mercedes Middlemist, and Wilbur and Mae Haynes.

In lieu of flowers we ask that you donate to the Chihuahua Rescue in the Phoenix area, or the American Cancer Society in Steve's name. Services will be held later this summer in Colorado per Steve's wishes.

"Steve, I'll cook dinner for you tonight and make it extra delicious, as requested. I'll miss our dinners together and our lively conversations. Rest in peace, buddy. You are finally free from pain.Don't worry about the dogs. They are being well cared for and very spoiled. "

"Prayers as I found out earlier today about Steve's passing. I met this cool guy in the late 1980s in Phoenix. On Easter Sunday 1991 a buddy and I rear ended a semi in CA and he got Mom and Dad to the hospital (as told and favorably remembered by my folks): speaks volumes. I am sorry... and may it only be time until you're Blessed to be with him again. Steve Foster "

"Steve has a big impact on so many people and he will be sorely missed. I had the pleasure of being a good friend of Steve?s in the 90?s when we were both young and always having fun. He was a great friend with a big heart. My condolences and prayers go out to his family and friends over this tragic loss for us all. "

"I am so sorry to hear about Steve's passing. I just found out tonight (3/19/2020). Steve helped me and my husband when we were in Phoenix to take care of my brothers estate. My brother Terry While was friends with Steve. Steve helped my brother while my brother was in hospital for heart problems. Steve helped arrange a wake for my brother 5 years ago. Steve was a great friend. He will be missed."

"Steve and I met almost 30 years ago - wow, yep, 30 - in Los Angeles at the Ritz-Carlton Marina del Rey, where we worked. We hung out in Manhattan Beach (I think he was living with you, Sandi, at the time). Shortly after, Steve moved in with me. We had tons of fun. Life happened and we let too many years go by, but we reconnected a few years ago. We spent a weekend catching up, and since then, kept our promise to stay in touch. Timothy and I flew to Phoenix last September 2019 for another weekend with Steve. I'm grateful for Steve's friendship and love, and I miss him."

"I only met Steve once in person. We had coffee down the street from where I live one Saturday morning about 2 years ago. The conversation wasn't very deep or anything, but I love natural disasters (a weird quark of mine) and I remember him sharing with me how he lived through the Northridge earthquake of '94. He was a very conversational, handsome guy and I would have been very open to meet again, although for whatever reason (probably just busy life schedules) we never met again. But that was a very nice Saturday morning I got to share with him. "
