In loving memory of

Robert Anthony Ortiz

Robert Anthony Ortiz, age 50, passed away on June 10, 2018 in Scottsdale, AZ. He was the husband of Kimberly Lynn Ortiz. They shared 25 years of marriage together.

Robert was born in Phoenix, AZ and he was the son of Jorge Ortiz and Carmen Mason and was raised by his Nana and Tata, Eloisa and Ines Ortiz.

He was an amazing athlete throughout his life and was recognized as "Taz" when turning the bases, because of his extraordinary speed. He was a proud member of the Bobby Martin Ralph Horse Racing Association and always enjoyed their infamous meetings. Anyone who knew Robert knew he was a fisherman at heart and enjoyed any given opportunity to do so and the stories he shared will be remembered forever. He also loved taking walks and waiting for sightings of any living creature whether it be a bug, spider, snake, lizard or an adorable bunny. He started when Tiana was a baby and he continued this love with Kash. Robert will forever be remembered as the guy with "that" smile and that incredible infectious laugh.

He is survived by his wife, Kim, beautiful daughter Tiana Ortiz and his grandson, and joy of his life, Kash Ortiz; as well as his caring mother, many amazing brothers and sisters and cousins, aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews as well as all of his amazing friends who also became family to Robert. He will be joining his nana, tata and dad in heaven; may they all rest in peace. Robert, we will always love you.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Hansen Mortuaries & Cemetery, 6500 E. Bell Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85254. The visitation will be from 9:30 am to 10:30 am and the memorial service will begin at 10:30 am. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at The Hidden Palace.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Kash Anthony Ortiz Education Fund through Desert Financial Credit Union. Thank you.

"When Robert entered our lives as a senior in high school, we accepted him as we accepted all the other " dates" that came and went in our household. As parents of three, you learn to accept this as part of a growing and learning phase. Somehow this phase never went away. As Kim and Robert fell in love and married, we accepted Robert as our "other" son. We celebrated his joys and stood by him when we were needed; never imagining he would have to leave our family so quickly. We wIll forever love the memories he left behind and never forget the man we helped raise as our own. His smile and laugh will be forever remembered. Rest In Peace Robert and know Kim, Tiana and Kash will always be taken care of. Love, Rhonda and Ralph"

Anthony Petrone wrote on Jun 15, 2018:

"To place Robert into perspective...... How many people around you can be considered part of your every day life including family and friends that are close enough to be considered family? Maybe 10? If you get 20 that says something about you. I ask you this because lately I?ve had the attitude that our life here on this earth may be insignificant we live a life caring for those close to us and then we pass into a Bolivian being sent to rest with those closest to us around and then possibly a few months later the world forgets about us and it?s like we were never here . Roberts passing changed my view on this as I had to make a list the other night for the services of friends and family who are closest to him my list almost reached 70. For any person on this earth to have that many people that close to him, that considered him a special part of their life is incredible. Therefore I now know and I can say that Robert is the one person I know that went through life on this earth the best that he could and made an impression on so many that he will never ever be forgotten . I love you Robert and will miss you every day for the rest of my life"

"Forever in our hearts, a true family man. I saw firsthand at how much he loves his daughter and his wife. Kim once told me ?Robert never lets me fight with him , I tried but he just won?t let me.? I found that so admirable. Such a kind soul, loving, and giving man. Robert Ortiz you will be missed by many , RIP. I Love this family, my prayers go out to you all."
