In loving memory of

Thomas Gerald Goretzki

Thomas Gerald Goretzki passed away suddenly in his home on January 11, 2018. Tom was born on June 9, 1943, to Leonard and Mary Goretzki in Winona, Minnesota. During his childhood, the family moved to Henderson, Nevada. Following his high school graduation, he enrolled at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota, where he graduated in 1967 with a degree in business administration. Tom married Carol Meyer on April 6, 1968. They lived in Faribault, Minnesota, for ten years and in 1978 moved to Phoenix, Arizona. In Phoenix, Tom worked as a credit manager for various companies including Honeywell for 15 years.

Tom loved family celebrations. He liked spending time with friends, playing cards (pinochle and bridge), bowling, and making an occasional trip to play the ponies. Tom enjoyed sports and was an avid Yankees fan. He took pride in coaching and supporting his sons' baseball and soccer teams.

Tom will be lovingly remembered by his wife of almost 50 years, Carol; sons Mark (Brandy) and Brian (Jennifer); and grandson Mason.
A celebration of life will be held on February 9, 2018, beginning at 11:00 at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary, 6500 E. Bell Road, with a reception following the service at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 4930 E. Greenway Road.

Memorial donations may be made to Resurrection Lutheran Church Fellowship Ministry.

Daniel Kaye Zur wrote on Jun 18, 2018:

"Dear Carol, Mark, and Brian, I am so sorry for your loss. I know that he loved you all dearly. I wish that I could have been there for you. I am very sick myself, have been trying to reach out to Mark for nearly a year. Wish I could be a part of your lives again. You were my second family, I saw Striker's reincarnation at my doctor, it looked just like her! Mark, if you ever read this, please know how hard it has been for me without you in my life, the gentle, loving soul that loved a good burger or ribeye steak. What's say you and I bury the hatchet and get us a beer."
