Granville Tilghman

Granville (Grant) W. Tilghman, born February 14, 1919 departed this life to eternity on February 13, 2016. Mr. Tilghman was the youngest of the seven children of John and Lottie Tilghman of Princess Anne, Maryland. Mr. Tilghman was a resident in the Valley of the Sun since 1994. Tilghman was a WWII veteran serving in Casablanca, Morocco and Naples, Italy.  He was a graduate of Princess Anne College, earning a degree in Agricultural Education in June 1946.  In 1949 he completed a degree in the soil sciences at Michigan State University. Tilghman practiced his skills through the Bureau of Reclamation in North Dakota and California before retiring in 1980, after which, he opened an antique shop in Fresno California. Granville's first wife of 46 years, Esther, passed away in 1992. Together they had three daughters, Cynthia Tilghman, Mary Tilghman and Judy Caldwell. He was married to Rosetta Dudley from 1994 until his death. Their blended family included six daughters, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. Granville was a member of the Y's Men Club, and Dove of the Desert United Methodist Church, 7201 W. Beardsley, Glendale, AZ, where a memorial service will be held on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 11:00 am.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent in his memory to Hospice of the Valley or Dove of the Desert UMC.
