In loving memory of

Helen Corrigan

Helen Margaret Corrigan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at home surrounded by her family. Helen was born to William and Elizabeth Struthers in Elderslie, Scotland on February 16, 1954. She was the youngest of the family and was well loved by her parents and siblings, Mary, Elsa and Bill. She graduated from Glasgow University and went on to work as a hospital geneticist. In 1975, she met Gerry Corrigan, married him in 1978, and they were inseparable from then on. Together they brought up three wonderful daughters - Jennifer (Justin), Rachel (Carl) and Hannah - of whom she was so proud and loved so much. They all moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1996 and started a new life here. She embarked on a second career and spent years teaching - mostly at Mountain Sky Junior High. Helen was a joyful, passionate, intelligent woman who made friends easily and loved the company of others. She spent a lot of her time volunteering with charities helping the less fortunate, in keeping with her strong Catholic faith. Particularly, she dedicated her time to the homeless, immigrants and refugees. We will all miss her terribly. Helen battled cancer for the last two years of her life, but it never changed her calm outlook or stopped her doing anything she loved. Her family would like to thank Dr. Shana Wingo, her staff at Arizona Oncology, and Hospice of the Valley for the great care they gave her during this time. There will be a visitation for Helen from 6:00-8:00PM on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Hansen Chapel, 8314 N. 7th St., Phoenix, AZ 85020. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, August 3rd, at St Paul's Church, 330 W. Coral Gables, Phoenix 85023, followed by a burial at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 23015 N. Cave Creek, Phoenix 85024, and a reception at the church.
