Michael L. Dils, 46, of Phoenix in spite of his strong will to live he lost his long and courageous battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma on Thursday, March 12, 2015. With his loving wife, Michelle, and 9 year old son Colin in tow, he temporarily relocated to Houston, Texas for medical treatment at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital. His brother, Jay, was to have been Mike's stem-cell transplant donor, but the disease was so virulent that doctors could never get it under control enough to perform the transplant. Born May 14, 1968, in Tucson, AZ, Mike was helpful, kind, loving, upstanding, and well liked. He was a great son, brother, husband, father, and uncle. He loved the outdoors, particularly the Flagstaff area. Mike was a dog lover from way back and took excellent care of his animals. A few years after graduating from Thunderbird High School, Mike received an associate degree from Apollo College/Radiology Technology program. He became an outstanding CT technologist, praised by all the medical people he worked around. His proudest work-related achievement, however, was the business he and wife Michelle started called Apple Tree Home Care in Sun City. Mike was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents and his aunt, Grace Dils. He is survived by his devoted wife, Michelle; loving son Colin (C.J. to those who know him well); loving parents, Betty and Joseph Dils; caring sister, Amy Ishler and her husband Lance; brother and best friend, Jay Dils; young nieces, Sarah and Lauren Ishler; father-in-law, Mike Vogler and his wife Patricia; brother-in-law, Jon Vogler, and wife Sara and their children; and many, many friends and co-workers past and present. The world was a better place with Mike in it and we will all miss him tremendously. He will truly never be forgotten. The viewing will be Friday, March 20 from 5-8PM at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary, 6500 E. Bell Rd., Scottsdale. A graveside service will be Saturday, March 21 at 10AM at Phoenix Memorial Park, 200 W. Beardsley Rd., Phoenix. "Mike visited our home in Maine many years ago as the guest of our daughter. I remember him as a charming, personable young man who was a credit to himself and to his parents. My husband and I enjoyed getting to know him. I\'m very sad to hear of his passing. My condolences to his wife, his parents, and family."
