Jerry David Nielsen, 81, died on Nov 6, 2014. Born on Dec 22, 1932 in Salt Lake City, UT, to Dora Woolslayer and David O. Nielsen. He attended East High SLC, UT. Jerry studied electronics for two years at Weltec College. Jerry served as the Stake Financial Clerk for 18 years in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Phx. Jerry's lineage originates from LDS pioneers who settled in Salt Lake in the 19th century. Jerry served in the US Army during the Korean War. Afterwards, he worked for 10 years at Salt Lake Hardware in Advertising and Machine tools, preparing him for a 20 yr. career in Sales and as a Manufacturer's Rep at Rockwell Intl, now Delta Machinery. During those years he was consistently a top ten 10 salesperson winning many gifts and trips. Jerry married Janet Wightman in 1956 and had two children, Steven J. Nielsen (Lilly) and Susan Nielsen Musgrove (Dan). Later, Jerry married Marjetta Heinonen in 1968, had daughter Diane Nielsen and raised stepson, Ari Heinonen (Eila). In 1984, Jerry married Darlene Sirrine-Robles gaining two additional step-children Clifford M. Jordan (Deise) and Lisa M. Robles-Richardson (Jacob). Jerry's talents and passions were in woodworking, gardening, mechanics, organ playing, snow skiing, and stamp collecting. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Darlene Rose Sirrine-Nielsen; Sister Jean Nielsen Degn (Raymond); Brother Max W. Nielsen (Patti); as well as his 3 children, 3 step-children, and 15 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Paradise Valley Stake Center, 3601 E. Shea Blvd., Phoenix, AZ at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 15, 2014. A viewing will be held prior to services at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6290 W. Northern, Glendale, AZ.
