William Jones
William Jones, 85, of Phoenix, AZ died Friday February 7, 2014 at Freedom Inn, Scottsdale from complications of Alzheimer's disease. He was born July 9, 1928 in Northampton, PA. Colonel Jones was highly decorated during his 27 years of service in the United States Army which included assignments in the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retirement he served on the faculty of the University of Texas and he and Mary Lou traveled widely throughout the world. He is survived by Mary Lou, his loving wife of 61 years, 2 daughters: Deborah and husband Dr. Carl Bogue, Linda and husband David Halpern, Esq., 2 grandchildren: Katelyn Halpern and husband Elliot Cole and Joshua Halpern; 4 step-grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Hansen Desert Hills Chapel, 6500 E. Bell Rd., Scottsdale, AZ. Burial will follow service at National Memorial Cemetery of AZ, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to UMOM at www.umom.org/getinvolved/donate.
