Daniel W. Smith

Daniel W. Smith, 66, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away on April 18, 2011 after a short illness. Daniel was born in Binghamton, NY on February 10, 1945. He graduated from Chenango Valley High School and served in the U.S. Army 1963-1966 where he served as a specialist and received several medals. He then joined the Reserves for three years. Daniel has been a longtime member of the VFW and the American Legion Post 1645. He worked as a manager for G.E. for many years, as a Senior National Accounts Manager for Rexel and was most recently employed by Nexant, Inc. in Chandler, AZ as a Senior Project Manager serving the energy savings business in electrical demand-side management. His favorite hobbies and passions were playing guitar and flying. Daniel is survived by his wife, Dauna (Ellsworth), his daughter Aimee (Smith) Stock (Scottsdale) and his son Daniel Smith, Jr. (Pensacola Beach, FL); one brother, Ronald Smith and sister-in-law, Halla; and sister and brother-in-law, Rhonda and Ken Rogers, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Russell and Hilda Smith and sister, Marie Millard. Visitation will be held from 10:30AM-12:30PM, with funeral service at 12:30PM Monday, April 25, 2011, William R. Chase Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Binghamton, NY. He will be laid to rest in Vestal Hills Memorial Park, 3997 Vestal Rd., Vestal, NY.
