In loving memory of

Martha Carolina Call

Call, Martha Carolina passed away peacefully in her sleep March 19, 2010 at the age of 88 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Born November 11, 1921 in American Falls, Idaho to George Christian Dockter and Rosina Bischke, she was the eleventh of thirteen children. She grew up on the family farm with her brothers and sisters and in 1938 met her future lifes mate, Francis Call, at a high school graduation ceremony in Burley, Idaho. They were married November 20th of the same year. They lived in Boise, Idaho until Francis joined the Army Air Corp in 1940. WWII caused them to move several times; to Sioux Falls, SD, Pendleton, OR, and Seattle, Washington where Francis received his discharge after the war. Even though they had three small children by now, Martha worked and supported the family while Francis finished school in Los Angeles, CA. After finishing school Francis started a Jewelry business in Aberdeen, WA and later a Drug Store in Boise, ID. After selling the Drug Store in Boise, they moved back to Seattle and later to Yakima, WA. In 1954 the family returned to Boise where once again Martha worked to support the family while Francis started Call Jewelers. Soon Martha was able to join Francis in developing Call Jewelers into a multi store chain with stores in Idaho and Arizona. They moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1983 and the company headquarters followed in 1985. Martha worked along side her husband in the family business until they were both into their eighties. They were seldom apart. Martha and Francis were devoted members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many leadership positions. They both loved young people and Martha particularly enjoyed the times she served as a young women’s leader or advisor. In their later years, they served as missionaries in the Arizona Phoenix Mission. Martha was preceded in death by her husband in January, 2008. She is survived by her three children Carolyn Johnson and Terry Call of Scottsdale, AZ and Chester Call of Boise, ID, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 24th at Desert Hills Mortuary and Memorial Park, 6500 E. Bell Road, Scottsdale, AZ. There will be no public viewing.
