Donald Alvin Eagle

Eagle, Donald Alvin was born July 5, 1928 in Kansas City, MO. He passed away Feb. 12, 2010. Don held a B.A. and Master of Divinity from Drake University. He was an ordained minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), serving churches in Corydon, Goldfield, Davenport and Fairfield, Iowa. Don became the Regional Director of the National Conference of Christians and Jews in Iowa. In 1965 he transferred to become the Arizona NCCJ Regional Director, a position he held for twenty five years. Don was very proud of his work for the youth camp Anytown, Arizona. Under his direction, Anytown expanded to serve more than 500 Arizona youth and 3000 teenagers in 19 states annually. Don was honored with numerous awards for his interfaith, community and law enforcement work. In 1986 the Arizona Republic named him one of the ten most influential religious leaders in Arizona. Don was a member and past president of Foothills Christian Church and the Phoenix Kiwanis club. Don is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Louise (Friberg), his daughter Jane E. Hull, four grandchildren Jason, Mallory, Mathew and Jennifer and one great granddaughter, Ilani. He was preceded in death by his son David and brother Ted. Visitation will be held 5-7 pm on Friday, February 19th and the funeral at 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 20th at Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th St., Phoenix. Contributions suggested to Foothills Christian Church or Kiwanis Int’l Foundation.

"Dorothy, I am so sorry for your loss of Don. The Lord has said, "Well done, my good and faithful servant" it’s time to come home. You and your family are in my prayers. God is faithful. Dan Dickman (Marvin & Carol’s oldest) was my husband. He passed in 1994 and the Lord gave me a wonderful husband in March 2008."
