Richard Robert Horn

Horn, Richard Robert "Dick" 82, of Glendale, AZ passed away November 26, 2009 in Phoenix, AZ due to cancer and heart failure. He was born on September 11, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to Frank and Marjory Horn. He married Nancy Ann Herr on September 3, 1950 and was married for over 59 years. Richard earned a BA in Sociology from Franklin and Marshall College in 1952 and a MS in Personnel Administration from George Washington University. He was a Lt. Col. in the U. S. Army receiving a Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, serving 32 years in Korea, Vietnam, France, Germany and the United States. He was a First Eagle Scout with 4 Palms of Troop 56 in Strasburg, PA earning the Silver Beaver, Vigil Honor Order of the Arrow, Hornaday Gold Badge. He was a Scout Master, Assistant District Commissioner, served on the National and World Jamboree Staffs, he was a Deacon at the National Presbyterian Church. He was a loving, uplifting and encouraging husband, father of Scott and Heather, Father-in-law and Grandfather. Survived by his wife Nancy, son Scott, daughter-in-law Dawn, grandchildren Natalie and Christina and brothers Donald L. and Bruce R. Services will be held at Community Church of Joy, 21000 North 75th Avenue, at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, December 3 and burial in Lafayette, Colorado, Friday, December 4 at 2:00 P.M.
