In loving memory of

Violet Ruth Lemaster
December 31, 1931 - February 1, 2020

Violet Ruth Wirtjes was born on December 31, 1931 in Lakota, Iowa. She was the third of five children born to Herman and Sena (Johnson) Wirtjes. She grew up with her cherished brothers and sister on the farm southwest of Lakota. She was baptized and confirmed at Ramsey Reformed Church in rural Titonka. She attended grade school at a close-by country school and eventually graduated from Lakota High School in 1950.

After graduation she worked various jobs including working in a local hatchery and providing in-home assistance cooking, cleaning, and childcare to families who needed help. She was also a waitress at a local café. It was at that café where Violet Ruth met Verlin Ray Lemaster in the mid-1950's. The story surrounding their first encounter differs depending on which one of them you asked. Regardless they were married on April 20, 1956 at the Ramsey Reformed Church. That marriage lasted for fifty-eight years until Verlin's death in 2014.

During their marriage Violet and Verlin owned Lemaster Dairy Routes where Verlin was the milkman, making home delivery of dairy products and Violet did the monthly bookwork for fifty plus years. Verlin and Violet will also be remembered as the owners of the Casey's General Store franchise store on the corner of Highway 9 and the Mill Road which opened in 1977.

Violet also worked the night shift at the Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center for twenty-three years. She thoroughly enjoyed providing care to the many residents over those twenty-three years and she formed many lasting friendships with her co-workers. She often spoke fondly of both the residents and her friends.

Violet had a deep love for her children. She loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, and laid a faith-filled foundation for her children that will last for generations. She also had a deep love for her extended family, a generous protective spirit, and an enduring delightful sense of humor which she was able to share until the very end. After Verlin's death, Violet moved to Apple Valley, Minnesota to be closer to all her children. She lived with her daughter Vonda and her family.

Violet Ruth is survived by her four children, Vernel Ryan of Lonsdale MN, Valerie Ranae and husband Steven Hauschildt of Lonsdale, MN, Verdean Ray and wife Marcia of Farmington MN, Vonda Ruth and husband Craig Wilson of Apple Valley, MN. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Kyler (Samantha) Hauschildt, Riley (Jamie) Hauschildt, Gabriella (Tim) Lykowski, Christian LeMaster, Mikaela Wilson, Reid Wilson, and Lindsey Wilson. Violet also has three great-grandchildren, Aryana Lykowski, Sebastian Lykowski, and Georgia Hauschildt. She is survived by her brother Alvin Wirtjes and her sister Iona Berg and many treasured nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Verlin her parents, brothers Arthur Wirtjes and Irvin Wirtjes, and nephew Rodney Wirtjes.

"We are sending our love and many prayers to the entire family. Aunt Violet always made me feel like I was one of the kids when we visited during sumer vacations. I still remember her wonderful garden and honest to goodness love served with home cooking. Growing up , I had many questions I didnt feel right asking a parent, as always she would do her best to answer me as my parents were divorcing. She was a huge role model to me as an aunt, a mom, a friend and a wife. Aunt Vi was able to act like one of us kids while playing outside with the waterhose, (unless we went to far.) And then still laugh about it later while we were eating a warm diner she still had time to make special. Her love is forever in my heart. I am so saddened by your loss. Cindy Shockey"
