Nancy Carol Boldt, 76 of Houston, died Friday, January 31, 2020 at Valley View Healthcare and Rehab.
Nancy was born April 3, 1943 in La Crosse to Kasmer and Alida (Gaustad) Laschenski. In 1961 she graduated from Houston High School and on September 10, 1966, she married, Edwin Boldt at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church. Nancy took pride in staying home to raise and care for her family. She is a lifelong member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church.
Nancy enjoyed gardening and her flower gardens were truly something to be admired. She also enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Edwin; two children, Sue (Bill) Selke and Tim (Tamara) Boldt; five grandchildren, Rachel & Amanda Selke, Tanner & Trisha Johnson and Teddi Boldt; three great-grandchildren, Junior, Aubree and Case; one brother, Eugene (Carol) Laschenski, several brothers' and sisters'-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial Service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church with the Reverend Linda McPeak officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m., until the time of the service. "I was so sorry to hear that my cousin Nancy had passed away. I was the California cousin who came out to Minnesota for a summer. At around age seven, I remember Nancy and I got the brilliant idea of going into Grandma Gaustad's hen house, grabbing some pullet eggs and cracking them onto hot rocks to see if they would fry. It sure sounded like a great experiment at the time. Needless to say, we got in trouble for that as we were told pullet eggs were to be left in the nesting boxes, so the hens would be encouraged to lay more eggs. Our other debacle happened when we were put in charge of taking the lunch buckets out to the men who were working in the field. On the way back home, we noticed there was a perfectly mounded haystack that was calling our names. We had a great time, jumping in it and tossing the hay every which way. We also got in trouble for that. We learned later that the haystacks were to be left as haystacks and not to be messed up. Being a city girl from Los Angeles, some of my most memorable times were on my grandma's and my cousin Nancy's farm. As an adult, I always admired Nancy's great cooking and sewing skills. She was a carbon copy of her mom in that regard. At this time of sorrow, I hope these little stories will put a smile on your face.
