In loving memory of

Gary August Yaddof
July 20, 1956 - January 17, 2020

Gary August Yaddof, 63, died in his home on January 17, 2020 in Charles City, IA due to complications from Lewy Body Dementia (LBD).

Gary was born on July 20, 1956 in Elwood, IA to his parents, Victor and Doris Yaddof. He graduated from the University of Dubuque with a degree in Biology and moved to Northeast Iowa where he worked at Swiss Valley Farms in Luana.

He was united in marriage to Naomi Odegard on April 5, 1986. Together, they raised four children in rural McGregor.

Gary had a great love for the outdoors, which he instilled in his children by regularly taking them camping, hiking, hunting and fishing. He spent summers teaching them how to garden and winters teaching them how to ski. Gary also loved playing Euchre, traveling with his family, and cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Bears.

Gary is survived by his wife, Naomi; his four children, Emily (Brian) Gibbs of Tomahawk, WI; Michael (Rachel) Yaddof of Cedar Falls, IA; Isaac Yaddof and Elizabeth Yaddof, both of Charles City, IA; and his brother, Larry Yaddof, and sister, Marla Wilcox, both of Delmar, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2019 from 3 to 6 pm in "The Bistro" at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, IA. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gary's life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Gary's honor may be directed to the family to help advance the study of Lewy Body Dementia, a deadly disease that causes a progressive decline in mental and physical abilities.

"Quiet, calm...and always aware of what was going on. We help him peel back the 'quiet 'a little bit when he pledged Phi Omicron at U of Dubuque. A great friend in college....and one we enjoyed seeing a lot in the years after. Heritage Days in Clayton County were never complete, until Gary, Naomi, a couple of kids or whomever he came out with that October weekend--stopped by and caught up with us. "

"It was an Honor to have known Gary. We met at the University of Dubuque and became Fraternity Brothers with Phi Omicron. My frat brothers certainly had many personalities, but Gary was special. His face would light up when you met, he was always good natured, easy-going and upbeat. His wife was in the same sorority as my girlfriend and are dear friends, his brother-in-law Pete was also a frat brother, and hired my girlfriend Kris Olson and many of the other frat bros. I am enriched having known Gary and cherish the memories of his friendship. Last time I saw Gary was at another frat bothers son's wedding reception, and we sat together. I had brought an old photo album of our school days and had some great belly laughs. I will always treasure that. Thoughts and prayers to the entire Yaddof family. -Timothy Smith"
