Wayne Henry Dunn was born April 5, 1934, to Joseph and Viola (Broadwell) Dunn of West Bend. He passed away January 13, 2020. As a husband, father, grandfather and friend, he was the very definition of selflessness, patience and kindness, always putting others first.
Wayne graduated from West Bend High School in 1952, and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He married Rosemary Anliker, his high school sweetheart, on February 19, 1956. They retired in Algona in 2003.
He farmed near West Bend and worked as a Pioneer seed corn sales representative for many decades. Wayne was an active member of the United Methodist churches in West Bend and Algona, serving in many positions. He loved spending time with his family, hunting, fishing and playing cards. He gave back to his community through his membership in the American Legion, Lions and Kiwanis, as well as volunteering at the Good Samaritan Home in Algona.
Wayne died Monday, January 13, 2020, at his home. He was 85.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rosemary; his siblings, Dean Dunn, Merrill, IA, and Lois Hatton; Lawrence, KS; daughter, Marcia and Darren Larkin of Davenport, IA; son, Mike and Alane Dunn of Johnston, IA; grandchildren, Jordan, Austin and Morgan Dunn; and great grandchildren, Michael, Paul and Bradley Dunn. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as in-laws, Edward and Margaret Anliker; brothers-in-law, Bill Jergens and Tom Hatton, and sister-in-law, Dorothy Dunn.
