Marilyn E. Earles, 79, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Wednesday morning, June 1, 2011, at her home in Maquoketa, Iowa.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 P.M. on Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Carson & Son Funeral Cremation Services in Maquoketa. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, June 6, 2011, at the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa.

Marilyn E. Ringen was born on March 6, 1932 in Bellevue, Iowa, to Milton and Alma (Mangler) Ringen. She was a graduate of Preston High School. She married Lorin Keil. She then married Robert "Bob" Earles on January 11, 2000 in Maquoketa, Iowa. Their marriage was one of love, laughter and respect.

Prior to marriage, Marilyn had worked at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa. She then began a career in the food service industry first working as a cook and waitress at many local restaurants and then for the Maquoketa Schools lunch program for 15 years. She had also provided housekeeping and cleaning services for residents, as well as for the Maquoketa Police Station and Maquoketa City Hall.

Marilyn enjoyed gardening and tending to her flower beds, camping, fishing, playing cards and going to garage sales. She loved "cruising" in her convertible, as well as cooking and was known for her famous cream puffs. Her family was especially important to her and she always put others ahead of herself.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" Earles of Maquoketa, IA; children, Darcy (Susie) Keil of Baldwin, IA, D.J. Keil of Helen, GA, David (Julie) Keil of Oxford Junction, IA, Lorna Keil of Davenport, IA, and Lynette Veit of Henderson, CO; step-children, Steven (Vickie) Earles of Maquoketa, IA, Allen (Gayla) Earles of Maquoketa, IA, and David (Patty) Earles of Maquoketa, IA; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marlene Yarolem of Baldwin, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Harlan, a grandson, Drew, and a son-in-law, Tom Veit on March 19, 2011.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa.
