Lenora Kahler
August 27, 1948 - November 21, 2019

Lenora Rita Kahler was born August 27, 1948 near St. Joe, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore "Ted" and Bernadine (Plathe) Hilbert. She grew up on the family farm near LuVerne and graduated from Bishop Garrigan in Algona, Iowa. In high school she showed cattle through 4H, at the age of 18 Lenora won the Jr. Grand Champion in steer at the Chicago International in 1966.

Lenora was united in marriage to Joseph Kahler on January 26, 1980, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joe, Iowa. They moved to the Kahler family farm near Burt to raise their family until they moved to Algona in 2013. She worked as a telephone operator in Algona for North Western Bell and drove the head start bus. Lenora enjoyed spending time with her family, specifically taking her granddaughters shopping, crafting with them, or teaching them how to bake. She also enjoyed being a 4H leader, reading Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys novels, doing puzzles, gardening, being a farm wife, sewing and quilting, and watching old television shows.

Lenora died Thursday, November 21, 2019 at her home in Algona. She was 71.

Lenora is survived by her husband, Joe of Algona; son, Adam and his wife Brandi Kahler, and their daughters, Faith, Maddy, and Karlee of Burt, and son, Christopher Kahler of Algona; sister, Bernadette Bradford of LuVerne. As well as many loved and cherished nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Duane and Donald Hilbert.
