Mrs. Jean Schultz, age 95, of St. Charles, died October 16, 2019 at home under Seasons of Rochester hospice care.

She was born May 27, 1924 in Elgin, MN to Theodore and Dorothy (Bartz) Boie. On April 26, 1946 she married Donald Schultz of Plainview, MN. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elgin, MN.

Jean and Donald made their first home in Kellogg, MN opening Schultz Implement and within 5 years relocated it to St. Charles in conjunction with Schultz Implement in Plainview operated by Donald's brother, William.

She worked at the Elgin Clinic for Dr. Ellis right out of high school and later in Rochester as an office clerk until her marriage to Donald after his discharge from the US Army in England following the close of WWII. Jean and Don enjoyed world travel, wintering in TX, FL and AZ and many weekends at their beloved Whitewater State Park hiking the trails.

After her children graduated high school and college, she took particular pride in attaining her Associate of Arts degree from Winona State University in liberal arts. Among her many joys were singing in St. Matthew's Church choir, flower gardening, Bible study and reading, volunteering for church affairs and the company of many friends playing bridge and other card games.

Jean is survived by her sister, Marlys Kitzman of Elgin, son, Edward (Rita) of St. Charles and daughters, Jane (John) Cavanaugh of Maplewood, Carol (Stewart) Miller of San Raphel, CA and Susan Woodbury of Cornucopia, WI. She is also survived by two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, four nephews and a niece.

"Jean was one of our Girl Scout leaders way back when. Our other leaders were Gene Schwestka, LeEtta Nietz, and Kathryn Edwards. Meetings were often at the lovely Schultz home. Jean accompanied the Scouts on numerous trips and camp outs. So, she spent many hours with lots of silly young girls. Jean was always calm and kind, smiling through it all. Beautiful lady! What an influence she had on us all those years ago! God Bless her! Kathy Hewitt Feine"

"Jane, Eddy, Carol & Susie...your mom was a gem, always calm, friendly, and caring with a welcome ear and shoulder to cry on. I remember a special day from elementary or junior high days when she was at her kitchen table cutting out something - paper dolls? Anyway we had a nice visit and I don't even remember why I was really there - she made me feel important and special. And those "trio" events with Ruth Jacobs and my mom were a really big deal to me as well, especially when they sang on channel 10 TV! You have my sympathy...I am so very thankful for you all that your parents had lovely long lives. Such grerat friends! Much love to you, Bonnie"
