Laverna Martin passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 6th, 2009 at the age of 90.Laverna was born December 13, 1918 to Waite and Pauline Crenshaw in Dripping Springs, Texas. She later moved to Austin but not before she met the love of her life Andy, at a Camp Ben McCullough reunion. They were married January 19, 1945 and celebrated 64 years together.Laverna was a longtime member of Kinney Avenue Baptist Church where many life-long friendships were made. Ever the caretaker, Laverna was a mother and "mama" to many. Her passions were poetry, music, and her love of children.She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Gladine "Dee" Gropp of Houston, She is survived by husband Andy, sister Pat Chote of Beaumont; son Gerald and wife Irene; daughter Suzanne; three grandchildren, Stefanie, Kristy and Sean and five great-grandchildren.The family would like to express many thanks to the staff at Regency Village and Hospice of Austin for the care and support they provided to Laverna and her family.Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. till 6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 9th with funeral services celebrating Laverna's life at 9:30 a.m., Monday, August 10th at Harrell Funeral Home located at 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, Texas 78745 4435 Frontier Trail Austin, TX 78745 512-443-1366
