Roberto M. Gaitan, 79, peacefully passed away in his sleep at his home in Kyle, TX on Saturday, January 17, 2015. He was born on March 27, 1935 in Kyle to Feliciano and Severianna Gaitan.Roberto spent his youth working as a migrant worker. He married Irene Gonzales on January 1, 1955. They moved to San Antonio, TX seeking a better life for their growing family. Roberto found a rewarding career as a heavy machine operator. He spent many summers working in Chicago, IL to provide for his family of six sons and one daughter. He later retired from his union job in Chicago to return to Kyle to watch his family continue to grow.Robert was preceded in death by his first born infant son, Johnny Gaitan.He is survived by his wife, Irene Gaitan of Kyle, TX. Sons, Jose L. Gaitan and Rose Mary, James Gaitan and Olga, Isidrio Gaitan and Christina, Rich Gaitan, Roland Gaitan and Esmeralda and Robert Gaitan, Jr. and Mary all from Kyle. Daughter Delma Duran and Stephen of Austin, TX. Also survived by seventeen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Harrell Funeral Home, Kyle, TX with 1:00 pm services at the funeral home. Cremation to follow.
