In loving memory of

Susan Kathleen Barnes
September 3, 1973 - September 4, 2016

Susan Kathleen Barnes, Loving wife, daughter, sister and friend passed away suddenly while on vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on September 4, 2016. She was 43 years old. Susan was born to James Steven and JoAnn Lota McCready in Pasadena Texas on September 3, 1973. Susan was a natural caregiver. She always tried to make everybody feel included, special and happy. Susan often took the extra leap to create a positive change in a persons life. She was incredibly caring and giving with a heart as big as her smile. She had a huge personality, was quick to smile, joke and wherever she went there was the danger of a party breaking out. Susan never left anything to chance; proactively stepping in to help, organize and lead. She was the impetus for getting her family together and the center of activity.
Susan had many gifts and was often reminded as a child not to waste her many talents. She loved to dance and performed ballet until she was 16. She graduated from Lewisville High School in 1992 where she participated in basketball, track and theater where she was the only sophomore ever allowed to operate the light board. In 1992 she graduated with a BS from Texas Womans University, holding a honored place on the Deans list. In 1995 she married Robert Allen Barnes in Baytown Texas and together they shared eleven cherished years. Susan was a natural with kids and the elderly. Her loving smile and energy blessed families in the Neonatal care unit at Ben Taub in Houston as well as in nursing homes where she practiced occupational theory.
Susan is survived by her loving husband of eleven years Robert Allen Barnes, her step-children Shay Barnes, Chase Barnes and Tara Barnes as well as her parents James and JoAnn McCready, her brother Steven Michael McCready and his wife Shele and their daughter Gillian. She also leaves behind her aunt Carla Condon and her husband John and her Uncle Sam Lota and his wife Mary as well as many loving cousins. There was never a day that went by that Susan didnt touch someones life bringing light to their day.
Friends may call upon Susans family on Friday, September 9, 2016 at Harrell Funeral Home, 1715 Kirby Lane, Kyle, TX between 7 and 9 pm. A Rosary will take place at 9:00 AM on Saturday, September 10th at Santa Cruz Catholic Church, 1100 Main Street in Buda, TX with mass following at 9:30 AM.
