Mary Faith Flanagan (known as Faith), age 50, died suddenly on Thursday, January 12, 2017 in her home in Washington, DC from unexpected cardiac events.
Faith was born April 12, 1966 in Lawrence, Massachusetts. She graduated from Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. She was employed by Sephora, Georgetown but her main love was her involvement with the arts community as a volunteer, mentor, and supporter of all art related activities in DC. She was an avid book reader and lover of cats. She was smart and witty, creative and energetic, joyful and loving.
She is survived by her mother, Faith Flanagan of Buda, Texas; her father, Gerald of the Greater Lawrence area, Massachusetts; one brother Christopher and wife DeDe of Buda Texas, one sister, Julie and husband Greg Stephenson of Bastrop, Texas, nieces and nephews, Stephanie and Derek Cantrell, Jack Flanagan and Zoey Bell; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is preceded in death by grandparents, Clifton and Dorothy Thompson and James and Catherine Flanagan of Lawrence, Mass.
A memorial event to honor and celebrate her life will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 1 4 at her family home in Buda, TX 78610. Please contact the family at fflanagan@austin.rr.com for specific details.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Faith may be made to DCAC, District of Columbia Arts Center. This is a nonprofit organization which supports emerging artists. Faith was on the board, was an active member and a good friend to many of the supporters and artists.
