In loving memory of

Mark Nichols
May 31, 1972 - January 30, 2017

James Mark Nichols, 44, of Austin, Texas died January 30, 2017. Born May 31, 1972 in Galveston, Texas, Mark, as family and friends knew him, was a proud life-long Texan as was evidenced by the state-shaped tattoo on his left arm. Mark attended both Port Neches-Groves and Clear Lake High Schools and was graduated from the latter in 1990. He moved to Austin in 2000 and began work at Master Burglar Alarm where he was much admired by both co-workers and customers. Mark was a gifted singer and songwriter though modest about his talents. He was proudest of all though of his beloved nephew and namesake Jimmy Nichols age 4 who will miss their favorite game of you cant catch me and singing Old Mister Hopper Grass together.

Mark is also survived by his loving parents Carol Nichols, James Nichols, Gloria Auth and sister Leslie Nichols all of Austin, Texas.

A memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail.

"Mark was a very special young man. He was a very private person, but he was also witty and funny when he wanted to be. He had a wry sense of humor and was good at telling a joke. He was always very sweet and friendly to me. He was also helpful when I needed help in his area of expertise. I remember what he told Leslie, his sister, when he first met me, and she asked him about me, since she had not met me yet. What he said about me was very nice, and it made me happy. Mark was musical, played guitar and sang. He was kind enough to gift me a copy of a CD that he had recorded. One of the song's on it was one he wrote. It is a good clever song. He had a good voice. Mark told me how to make "shepherd's pie." Up till then, I had not even heard of "shepherd's pie." I remember that Mark liked to cook. I remember Mark being proud of his big sister, Leslie. I could tell he was proud of his dad. I have good memories of Mark and of time spent with Mark. Sad that he is gone, but I will always remember him."
