Betty Ann Robinson, age 99, of Quincy, died on September 7, 2018 at 7:55 am in her home.
Betty Ann was born November 24, 1918 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of John Alexander and Harriett Kraft Ohnemus. She married John A. Davis on November 25, 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland. He preceded her in death on December 14, 1957. Betty Ann then married Arthur Robinson on December 3, 1977 in Quincy, Illinois. He preceded her is death on November 18, 1996.
She graduated from Quincy High School in 1935. Betty Ann received her bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri in 1939, where she was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority and was one of the first female cheerleaders. She taught Kindergarten at Dewey School from 1939 until 1944.
Betty Ann was the past president of the Quincy Service League and St. Mary Hospital Guild. She also was a chairman on United Way Special Gifts and the Quincy Art Center's Beaux Arts Ball. She held a spot on the boards at the Quincy Museum, Great River First Tee, Cheerful Home, and Woodland Home. In 2002, Betty Ann received the Magnificat Award from the Catholic Diocese of Springfield, and in 2001, the YWCA Women of Achievement Award for sports. She was a member of Church of St. Peter, the Women's City Club, and the Quincy Country Club.
Betty Ann was an avid golfer and won many tournaments over the years including: the Quincy Women City Tournament (19 times), Illinois State Senior Tournament (1 time), Quincy Country Club Tournament (24 times), and the Spring Lake County Club Tournament (8 times).
Betty Ann is survived by three daughters, Hetty (Gary) Mayes of St. Louis, MO, Jane (David) Hieter of Goleta, CA, and Beth (Gary) Musholt of Quincy; a stepson, Dick (Nancy) Robinson of Palm Desert, CA; nine grandchildren, Chuck (Jennifer), Matt Hieter, John (Johanna) Mayes, Susan Mayes (Brad) Urani, Ben (Kelsey) Musholt, Liz (Dan) Riley, Mike (Diane) Robinson, Katie Robinson (Don) Bell, and Andrew Robinson; 21 great-grandchildren; a nephew, Jack (Marney) Weis; and 5 nieces, Jill Weis (Bill) Harrity, Wendy Wolfe (Jim) Ball, Vicki Wolfe (Jim) Allosso, Kathy Weis (Bob) Pollard, and Candy Wolfe (Tom) Shelton.
In addition to her husbands, Betty Ann was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Virginia Ohnemus Weis, and Marjorie Ohnemus Wolfe.
Betty Ann was lovingly cared for by Catalina Davis, Brooke Cobb, Jill Cobb, Dena Pence, Kristena Reed, Theresa Seward, Amanda Watkins and Katie Smith. In recent months, Betty Ann's family has greatly appreciated the support of UnityPoint Hospice.
Services: 9:30 am prayers on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at the Church of St. Peter with Monsignor Leo Enlow officiating.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois
Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, September 14, 2018 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home
