Shirley Ann Allen

Shirley Ann Allen, age 83, of Quincy, went to be with her heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at 1:00 a.m. in North Adams Home.

Shirley was born December 17, 1934 in Beverly, Illinois, the daughter of Wesley and Francis Earnest Stewart. She married Everett "Red"Allen on September 17, 1955 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on February 5, 2012.

Shirley was a 1952 graduate of Quincy High School. She had been employed at Motorola as an assembler until its closing. She also worked at the Blessing Hospital Tea Room. Shirley had been a member of Bible Baptist Church. Most recently, she had been attending Columbus Road Baptist Church. In her spare time, Shirley enjoyed gardening and sewing, which was her passion. Shirley was an accomplished seamstress, and her sewing was always done to perfection. And as Shirley would always say, "Ice Cream is my weakness."

Survivors include: her daughter, Brenda (Dan) Peters of Quincy, IL; her son, Ivan Allen of Quincy, IL; four grandchildren: Jason (Jessica) Robertson of Mt Sterling, IL; Karie (Matt) Koehn of Quincy; Brandy (James) Cottrell of Quincy; and Andrew (Janae) Robertson of Palmyra, MO; seven great-grandchildren: Dalton and Camden Robertson of Mt Sterling, IL; Amber Smith, Carley and Bailey Lovelace, and Kenady Robertson all of Palmyra, MO, and Owen Cottrell of Quincy; her sister, Ilena Wear of TX; her sister-in-law, Mary Bullock of Quincy.; and several nieces and nephews

In addition to her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Charlie Stewart; a nephew, Matt Bullock; four brothers-in-law: Paul Schwartz, Dick Bentrup, Gene Bullock, and Donald Wear; and two sisters-in-law: Ruth Bentrop and Evelyn Schwartz.

Services: 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Columbus Road Baptist Church, with Rev. Bob Cowman officiating.

Burial: Quincy Memorial Park, Quincy, Illinois

Visitation: 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Friday April 6, 2018 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home
