Charles E. Harding, age 72, of Quincy, died Monday, October 16, 2017, at 5:41 pm in Blessing Hospital.
Hansen-Spear Funeral Directors are in charge of the arrangements.Charles was born July 27, 1945 in Mansfield, Ohio, the son of John "Jake" and Betty Noe Harding. He married Tina M. Purgai on April 25, 1992 in Ashland, Ohio. She survives.
He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School, where he played football. Charles received basic training between his Junior and Senior year with the United States Navy, where he served for 9 years, he trained in underwater demolition while in the Navy. He worked for Benjamin Steel in Mansfield, OH. He was also an independent truck driver, raced motorcycles, and most recently worked as a housekeeper for Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Charles loved his travels while in the Navy and with his wife, Tina. He also loved spending most of his time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid Ohio State football fan.
In addition to his wife, Tina, Charles is survived by five children, Pvt. Michael J. Blankenship of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, Lisa Harding of Mansfield, OH, Cari Hodges of Mansfield, OH, Amanda (Keith) Gratz of Keokuk, IA, and Melissa (Jeremy) Cook of Van Buren, AR; seven grandchildren; three brothers, John Harding of Mansfield, OH, Dennis (Pat) Harding of Ashland, OH, and Fred Harding of Mansfield, OH; a sister, Betty Bosko Hamler of Mansfield, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers-in-law, Roger Bosko, and Jerry Hamler, a sister-in-law, Dixie Harding, and an infant nephew.
Charles will have a memorial service at a later date.
