William Donald "Bill" Dooley, age 84, Quincy, died Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at 2:58 pm in his home.

Bill was born July 19, 1932 in Monroe City, MO, a son of E. H. and Blanche Williams Dooley. He married Gail Darnell on August 18, 1951. She preceded him in death on April 1, 2005.

Bill graduated from Paris High School in Paris, MO. He began his career as a salesman for Kirby vacuum in 1952. In 1958, he and his wife opened their own successful Kirby distributorship. Bill trained and promoted more successful Kirby distributors than anyone in the world. At one point he had 13 offices between Cape Girardeau, MO and Clinton, IA. Bill won countless awards and vacations, which included multiple vehicles and two trips around the world, for his outstanding salesmanship. In his spare time, Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include: two sons: Brad Dooley and John (Cheryl) Dooley, all of Quincy; two grandsons: Lucas (Andrea) Dooley of Bloomington, IL; and Scott (Michelle) Dooley of Peculiar, MO; four great-grandchildren: Blakely and Asher Dooley; and Aithen and Atty Bassett; his good friend and companion, Berna Sue Barnett of Quincy; numerous nieces and nephews; and his extended Kirby family.

In addition to his wife, Bill was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Deanna Dooley; two brothers: John and Henry Dooley; and twin sisters: Camilla Lawrence and Melinda Pevestorf.

Services: 2:00 pm Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Pastor Paul Womack officiating.

Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois

Visitation: 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Friday June 30, 2017 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home
