Mary Helen Waddill, age 93, of Quincy, died Friday, April 28, 2017, at 3:38 am in Blessing Hospital.
Mary was born December 5, 1923 in Clayton, Illinois, the daughter of Elmo and Hazel Kinsella Lewis. On December 15, 1946 she married Donald Martin in Bowen, IL. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2010.
Mary was a graduate of Clayton High School and Gem City Business School. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, gardening, canning, and cooking. Mary also enjoyed spending time playing cards with all of her friends at Sunset Apartments. She especially loved shopping for clothes and jewelry. However, most of all, Mary loved her kids and grand kids.
Survivors include: a son, Alan (Debbie) Waddill of Palm Springs, CA; a daughter, Pixy (John) Jones of Quincy; five grandchildren, Brad (Lacy) Waddill of Clayton, IL, Ryan (Monica) Waddill of Camp Point, IL, Heather (Jason) Cook of Quincy, Amber (Steve Steinkuhler) Gottman of Golden, IL, and Kyle (Jennifer) Bruns of Creve Coeur, MO; two step grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, with one on the way; and a nephew, Jon (Candace) Holzgrafe of Portland, OR.
In addition to her husband Donald, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Wayne Lewis, and a sister, Virginia Holzgrafe.
Services: 10:00 am Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Golden Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Dixie Croxton officiating.
Inurnment: Golden Memorial Gardens, Golden, Illinois
