Mary P. Mahon

Mary P. Mahon, age 55, of 1825 N 400th Ave., Payson, died Monday, December 15, 2014, at 6:06 pm in her home.

Mary was born April 15, 1959 in Quincy, a daughter of Thoedore A. and Patricia A. Peters Burgtorf. She married David Mahon on March 10, 1979 in the Church of St. Peter. He survives.

Mary was a 1977 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School, and she completed the Surgical Technician Program at Blessing Hospital. From 1975 to1997 she worked at Penn-Daniels.  She held the position of Accounts Payable Manager. From 2001 to the present, she worked as office manager for Lansing Construction.

Mary was very involved with the Payson School District from 1992 until 2012. Some of the programs with which she helped include: PTO, Girl Scouts, Band Booster Club, and Assistant Cheer Sponsor. She also participated in various Payson Community volunteer work.

Mary was a loving and dedicated wife and mother. She always supported her family in every way possible. Mary brought a lot of joy to all of her loved ones. She enjoyed camping, canoeing, traveling, gardening, and spending time with her husband, children, parents, and siblings. Involvement within the Payson school district as her children went through school was a priority, and she found happiness through those experiences. She was incredibly selfless. She will be remembered as always looking at others' needs over her own.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: her children Will and Hannah Mahon of Payson; ten brothers and sisters: John Theodore Burgtorf & his significant other Donna Wright, Rose Leanne & husband John Griffard, Tina Marie & husband David Daniels, Gail Angela & husband Kelly Jansen, Gwen Jeanette & husband Brian Happel, Jolie Ann & Brian "BJ" Dannehold, Samuel Scott Burgtorf & wife Kelly, Shari Lynn & husband Jimmy Reckers, Elaine Michelle & husband Mike Coonrod, and Robin Joan and husband Ted Koetters; numerous nieces and nephews; and an aunt, Bea Hermsmeier and her husband, Art.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents.

Services: 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2014 at The Crossing with Rev. Chris Schaefer officiating.

Burial: Calvary Cemetery

Visitation: 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at The Crossing.

Memorials: Children's Education Fund, Blessing Cancer Center or The Crossing
