William Jay Sprinkle, age 62 of 1009 S. 8th Quincy, died Monday, November 8, 2004 at 8:20 p.m. in Blessing Hospital.
He was born February 16, 1942 in Meyer, Illinois, the son of Arthur and Yoisha Reynolds Sprinkle. In 1965 he married Patsy Kinne, she preceded him on August 26, 1993.
Mr. Sprinkle served in the U.S. Army from 1960 until 1963. He worked as a Diesel Mechanic for Trinity Industries until his retirement due to ill health. He liked to hunt and fish and work on vehicles on the side.
Surviving are 3 sons, Gordon Sprinkle and his wife Marie of Fowler, Eric Sprinkle and his friend Scott Smith of Quincy, and G.L. Wheeler and his wife Mariann of Quincy, a daughter Pam Sprinkle and her friend Virgil Gooding of Quincy; 11 grandchildren, Kasey Gooding, Roger D. Sprinkle, II, Angela Higgins, Mandi Higgins, Matthew Cates, Zach Wheeler, Katie Wheeler, Alexus Sprinkle, Aaron Sprinkle, Derek Sprinkle, Courtney Sprinkle; 3 great-grandchildren, Alex Bugh, Christian Sprinkle and Dustin Higgins; 3 brothers, Tom Sprinkle and his wife Betty of Quincy, Roger Sprinkle and his wife Jackie of Quincy, Frank Sprinkle of Ellington, FL; 3 sisters, Lavon Linder of Quincy, Shirley Kline of Quincy and Arlene Niccum and her husband Bud of Kirksville, IL; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Candi Miller, a brother Larry Sprinkle and a nephew Willie Sprinkle
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 12, 2004 in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Wheeler, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
