Verna Hannah Humphrey

Verna Hannah Humphrey, age 81, of 2130 Harrison, Quincy, and formerly of 331 Hwy 57, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004 at 6:30 pm in the Good Samaritan Home.

She was born November 11, 1922 in Fall Creek Township, Illinois, the daughter of William Frederick and Margaret Echternkamp Schafer. On December 27, 1941, she married Wilbur Vaughn Humphrey in Palmyra, MO. He survives.

Mrs. Humphrey was a member of Bluff Hall United Church of Christ and its Ladies Aid.

Survivors in addition to her husband are 3 sons, Ron Humphrey and his wife Millie, Plainville; Bob Humphrey and his wife Susan, Quincy; Bill Humphrey and his wife Kris, Quincy; a daughter, Susan Arnold and her husband Ron, Meyer, IL; 6 grandchildren, Leanne Lustgarten and her husband Eli, St. Louis, MO, Kristopher Humphrey and his wife Tammy, Quincy, Stephanie Cain and her husband, Elvis, Meyer, IL; Erin Humphrey, Jennifer Humphrey, and Meredith Humphrey, all of Quincy; 7 great grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren, Rick Jones and his wife Lisa, Pensacola, FL, Vicki Henry and her husband Dennis, Swansea, IL; Rodney Jones, Kansas City, MO; Rhonda Hess, Quincy; Rick Arnold, Quincy; 14 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters Norma Byrnes and Alta Homan, one step granddaughter, Cindy Campbell and one step great granddaughter, Danielle Hess.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 18, 2004 at 2:00 pm in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Rev. Rick Welch and Rev. Steve Disseler officiating. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Good Samaritan Home Special Care Unit.
