Fred R. Balentine, Jr., age 65, 1875 No. 200th Av., Plainville, IL died Sunday, February 1, 2004 at 8:25 a.m. in his home.
He was born August 14,1938 in Poteau, Oklahoma, the son of Fred R. and Eula Chapman Balentine, Sr.. On March 11, 1959, he married Margo Kelley in Deland, Florida. She survives.
Mr. Balentine was a graduate of Hearne High School in Hearne, TX. He served in the U.S. Navy and worked as an Information Systems Specialist for 8 years at Micro Energy, Inc and for 2 years at Converter Concepts. He was a member of the Baptist faith and attended Melrose Chapel.
Survivors in addition to his wife are 3 sons, Darrell R. Balentine, DeLand, FL; Roger L. Balentine, Plainville; Mark E. Balentine and his wife Teresa, Quincy; twin grandsons Levi and Forrest Balentine, Quincy and a granddaughter Shannon Matticks and her husband Alan, of Quincy; 4 great grandchildren Katherine and Devon Weiske, Quincy; Elizabeth Edwards, Payson and Amber Matticks, Quincy; a brother, Lewis Balentine, Jupiter, FL; and 2 nephews, Michael and Timothy Balentine, Madison, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Chapman, "Chap" Balentine.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 2 PM at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Rev. Walter Carlson officiating. Interment at a later date in DeLand Memorial Garden, DeLand, Florida. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon until 2 PM. Memorials may be given to Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
