Melvin J. Weber, age 90, of 1440 No. 10th, Quincy, and formerly of 1406 No. 10th died Sunday, December 21, 2003 at 12:15 pm in St. Vincent's Home.
He was born July 13, 1913 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of George and Clara Poppe Weber. On July 13, 1936, he married Alta May Jordan in Quincy. She preceded him in death on December 30, 1983. He married Anna 'Patricia' Traylor in Quincy in November 1985. She preceded him in death October 18, 2000.
Mr. Weber was a life long Quincy resident. He was a graduate of Quincy College Academy. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Quincy Traffic Club. He retired in 1978 after 45 years with Quincy Compressor-Colt Industries where he was Traffic and Service Manager. He was a charter member of their 25-year club. Mr. Weber was one of Quincy's very avid Cub fans.
Survivors include a son, Rodney J. Weber and his wife Nancy, Sterling, IL, 4 grandchildren, Sara Kreps and her husband Mike, Rockford, IL, Ashley Weber, Normal, IL, Shari Burkey and her husband John, Lakeland, FL ; Mike Weber and his wife Cindy, Ocala, FL, 3 great grandchildren, a brother, Julian Weber, Quincy; a step daughter, Sue Jandris and her husband Tom, Berwyn, IL 2 nephews Ronnie Weber and Dennis Fish and 2 nieces Marie Toliver and Judy Ecton. He was preceded in death by his wives, a son Bruce and 2 brothers Milton and Vernon
Funeral Services will be held at Saturday, December 27, 2003 at 11:30 am in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home and at 12:00 noon in the All Saints Parish, St. John's Church with Rev. Robert Jallas officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 4 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home with a Wake Service at 4:00 pm followed by the Knights of Columbus service. Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Catholic School or All Saints Parish, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
