Russell William Laaker

Russell William Laaker, 75, Good Samaritan Home, (formerly of 1120 No. 26th St.) died Saturday, December 6, 2003 at 5:10 pm in Blessing Hospital.

He was born August 22, 1928 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of William August and Erma Ann Louise Vahle Laaker. On September 4, 1948, he married Alma Bracy in Quincy. She preceded him in death on July 11, 1963. He married Roberta Lee Sessions July 3, 1964, in Quincy. She preceded him in death June 29, 2002.

Mr. Laaker was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ. He worked for Knapheide Mfg. for 46 years. He was Assistant Scoutmaster for Salem Troop 45 in the early 70's. He was a graduate of Quincy High School.

Survivors include 2 sons, Stephen Douglas Knipmeyer and his wife Joy, Beardstown; Terry Russell Laaker and his wife Linda, Pekin; 2 daughters, Debra Laaker Burgauer and her husband Steve, Peoria; Cheryl Laaker Hall and her husband Kevin, Woodbridge, VA; 9 grandchildren; 1 brother, Dale Laaker and his wife Winona, Springfield, IL; 1 sister, Joyce Ellen Disselhorst and her husband Merle, Quincy. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Alma and his wife Roberta.

Funeral Services will be 11 A.M. Wednesday, December 10, at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Rev. Wanda Seydel officiating. Burial in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ.
