Dorothy V. Kelly, age 86, of Palmyra, and formerly of 1845 Cherry, Quincy died Friday, November 7, 2003 at 11:26 am in Maple Lawn Nursing Home.
She was born February 9, 1917 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of John Jerome and Emma Rose Rush. She married Alvah Curt Eldridge and he preceded her in death. She married Tom Kelly February 26, 1959, and he preceded her in death.
She graduated from Quincy High School in 1935 and from Gem City Business College in 1938. She was employed for the State of Illinois for 43 years as a stenographer retiring in 1982. She loved to travel and went all over the world after her retirement.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Eldridge and his wife Emma Genenbacher Eldridge, Quincy; 5 grandchildren, Geraldine Fleck and her husband David, Tallahasee, FL; Claude Wiewel and his wife Angie, Tallahasee, FL; John Wiewel and his wife Tracy, Viera, FL; Jacqueline Regnery and her husband Joe, St. Petersburg, FL; Jennifer Jenkins and her husband Terry, Quincy; 9 great grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents, a son Kenneth Eldridge and one great grandson Tyler Jenkins.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Monday, November 10, 2003 at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Rev. Henry Pratt officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois. The family will receive friends from 10 - 10:30 am Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Maple Lawn Nursing Home.
