Max E. Freiburg

Max E. Freiburg, Jr., age 81, 2117 No. Wilmar, Quincy, died Thursday, September 18, 2003 at 10:15 am in Blessing Hospital.

He was born November 21, 1921 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Max E. Freiburg, Sr., and Alvera VandenBoom Freiburg. On May 10, 1952, he married Patricia A. Ewing in Quincy. She survives.

Mr. Freiburg was a 1939 graduate of Quincy High School; attended Westminster College for 2 years and graduated from Washington University. He attended Harvard Law School and the University of Illinois Law School. He owned Miller, Castle, Freiburg Insurance Agency where he started working at age 14. He also was a real estate developer.

Mr. Freiburg was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Quincy Noon Kiwanis, Independent Insurance Agency Association, Quincy Country Club and a former member of the Water Works Commission. He was past president of the Young Men's Business Club and the Quincy Insurance Agent 's Association. He was a member of the Elks Club for over 55 years and was vice chairman of the United Fund Drive in 1965. He had served on the board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce, the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Turner Hall, The YMCA and the Quincy College Foundation. An avid hunter, Mr. Freiburg was a member of the Mississippi Valley Hunting and Fishing Club and Ducks Unlimited. Mr. Freiburg also enjoyed playing the stock market

Survivors in addition to his wife are 2 sons, Mark Freiburg and his wife Kim, Quincy; David Freiburg and his wife Barbara, Quincy; 6 grandchildren, Tanner, Parker, Luke, Laura, Lisa and Logan Freiburg all of Quincy, 2 sisters, Marjorie Amen, Quincy and Jean Christenson, Pittsburgh, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jack.

Funeral Services will be 11 A.M. Monday, September 22, at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Rev. John Kennedy officiating. Entombment will be in Quincy Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM Sunday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with a wake service at 4 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Blessing Hospital Long Term Care or Quincy Humane Society or St. Boniface Catholic Church.
