Gertrude M. Waechter, age 98, 3425 Ghost Hollow Road where she lived with her daughter, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at 12:20 p.m. in Good Samaritan Home
She was born June 11, 1905 in Adams County, Illinois, the daughter of Frederick and Minnie Boge Burgtorf. On November 8, 1922, she married Edgar Peter Waechter in Quincy. He preceded her in death in May 13, 1988.
Mrs. Waechter was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ where she was active with the Young At Heart and the Quilters of the church.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Betty Waechter of Quincy; with whom she made her home; Joyce Wollbrink and her husband Norman, Warsaw; Shirley Grunden and her husband Keith, Quincy; 8 grandchildren, Bruce Wollbrink and his wife Cyndy, Warsaw; Brad Wollbrink and his wife Brenda, Quincy; Kevin Wollbrink and his wife Mindy, Warsaw; Kirk Wollbrink, Mendon; Kent Grunden and his wife Mary, Lake Zurich, IL; Karen Perry and her husband Brad, Naperville; Kathy Adams and her husband Bill, Palos Hills, IL; Kristine Wendorf and her husband Nathan, St. Petersburg, FL; 13 great grandchildren, David, Hannah, Joshua, Brandon and Jacob Wollbrink, Jennifer, Tyler and Amanda Grunden, Ryan, Emily and Andrea Perry, Dakota and Hunter Adams, and a step great grandson, Justin Hainline.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister Virginia Uebner, a brother in infancy, and a granddaughter Kellie Grunden.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 26, at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Rev. A. H. Bauch officiating. Burial in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 P.M. Friday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the William and Muriel Foose Specialized Care Center or Trinity United Church of Christ.
