Paul Richard Menke, Sr., 77, 3113 No. College, Quincy, died Friday, December 27, 2002 in Sandia Hospice Pavillion in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
He was born October 16, 1925 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Carl and Irene Waechter Menke. On October 17, 1949, he married Rosalind Rosendale in Quincy. She survives.
He was a 1943 QHS graduate and served in the US Navy during WWII. Paul owned the Quincy Dental Laboratory and was considered invaluable by the local dentists. He retired in 1995. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Elks Lodge, the Illinois Dental Laboratory Society, and American Legion Post 37.
Survivors in addition to his wife are 2 sons, Paul Menke, Jr. and his wife Susan, Albuquerque, NM; Mark Menke and his wife Patricia, Ft. Collins, CO; 4 grandchildren, Patrick Menke, and Amber Menke, both of Albuquerque, NM; Mark Menke, Jr., and Michael Menke, of Ft. Collins, Co; 1 sister, Althea Lay, Quincy; nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Menke, Jr.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Friday, January 3, 2003 at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Rev. Roy Bauer officiating. Burial in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois. The family will receive friends from 3-6 pm Thursday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society. American Legion Post #37 will conduct full military rites at the cemetery.
