Merle H. Settle

Merle H. Settle, age 92, died Saturday, December 14, 2002 at 9:55 a m at Blessing Hospital.

He was born July 30, 1910 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Adam Porter and Olive VandenBoom Settle. He married Leona Lange who survives.

Mr. Settle was a 1928 graduate of Quincy High School. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. He was retired from Settle's Radio and 'T.V. Sales and Service. Mr. Settle was an excellent harmonica player and an avid bowler and fisherman. He also was a wonderful cook.

Survivors in addition to his wife are a son, Wayne Settle and his wife Rita Matlick Settle, Orlando,Florida; a daughter, June Wiegmann and her husband Don, Quincy; 4 grandchildren, Linda Wiegmann and her husband Steve Swink, Quincy; Tonya Settle Pickens and her husband Mike, Orlando; Tina Settle Campbell and her husband Tom, Greenwood Village, CO; Angela Renee Noack and her husband Gregory, Stamford, Ct; 6 great grandchildren Brianna and Brittny Pickens, Thomas Wayne, Travis and Trevor Campbell and Natalie Ruth Noack, ; 1 brother, Jack Settle and his wife Joyce, Quincy; 1 sister, Dolly Settle Boltz, Naperville; 2 sisters-in-law, Helen Settle, Quincy; Judy Tenhouse Settle, Mt. Vernon, IL; , and Ralph 'Junie' Settle, a nephew along with several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by a son Ronald Ralph Settle, 4 brothers Ralph, Sr., Giles, Porter 'Port' and Richard 'Dick' Settle.

Funeral Services will be 2 P.M. Thursday, December 19, at the Hansen-Spear, with the Rev. Eugene Middendorf, O.F.M. officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois. The family will receive friends from Noon until 2 P.M. Thursday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
