Earl F. Speckhart, 93, 418 Washington, and formerly of 4101 North 24th Quincy, died Friday, October 4, 2002 at 1:30 am at Sunset Home.
He was born March 11, 1909 in Riverside Twp., Illinois, the son of Henry J. and Clara Mohrman Speckhart. On July 20, 1934, he married Helen B. Campbell in Washington, Iowa. She preceded him in death on November 17, 1994.
He was part owner and operator of Speckhart Excavating Company for 27 years before his retirement. He had also farmed in rural Adams County for many years. He was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ, Ursa Masonic Lodge #1129, A.F. & A. M., Quincy High Twelve, Quincy Consistory, Ansar Temple, and the YMCA Aquatic Center.
Survivors include 2 sons, A. Kent Speckhart and his wife Deanna, Ewing, MO, Warren E. Speckhart and his wife Shirley, Quincy, one daughter, Joyce Buckley and her husband Ed,Homewood, IL, 7 grandchildren, Sgt. Scott Speckhart, Girard, Illinois, Sara Speckhart, Ewing, MO, Mark Speckhart, Taylor, MO, Luanne Shover, Beverly, IL, Janet Janssen, Quincy; Shannon Buckley, Homewood, IL; Kelli Buckley, Homewood, IL, one sister, Ellen Wray, Quincy, one sister-in-law, Marie Speckhart, Quincy, one brother-in-law, Robert Frazier, Quincy 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Frank and Arnold Speckhart, a great grandson, Timothy Speckhart, 2 sisters, Florence McIntyre and Ruth Frazier, 3 sisters-in-law, Melva Speckhart, Josephine Campbell and Neva Veach, 5 brothers-in-law, Howard Orr, Wray McIntyre, John Veach, John Wray, Raymond Campbell.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Monday, October 7, at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Rev. Stephen Schuette officiating. Burial in New Providence, Ursa, Illinois. The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm Sunday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ, Shriners Children's Hospitals or Sunset Home.
