Jay R. Kelley, age 49, of 2001 South 30th, Quincy, died Friday, September 20, 2002 at 2:22 pm in Blessing Hospital.

He was born July 4, 1953 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of John and Helen Buxman Kelley. On August 2, 1974, he married Susan Schneider in Quincy, Illinois. She survives.

He was a 1971 graduate of Quincy High School and a 1975 graduate of Quincy College. He started his employment at St. Mary Hospital in 1975 and was eventually Vice President of Fiscal Services. When the two hospitals merged, he held the position of Vice President for Fiscal Services at Blessing Hospital. Currently Jay was the Vice President of Fiscal Services at Blessing Corporate Services.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Exchange Club. He was on the Board of Trustees at Sunset Home, loved to golf and was an avid St. Louis Rams fan.

Survivors in addition to his wife are his son, Christopher Kelley and his daughter, Megan Kelley, both of Quincy; a brother, Bob Kelley and his wife Patti, Quincy; a sister, JoAnn Wolkitt and her husband Rod, Quincy; mother-in-law, Betty Schneider Ward and her husband Norm, Quincy; 1 brother-in-law, Mike Schneider and his wife Pat, Jacksonville, IL; 8 sisters-in-law, Loretta Goehl and her husband Tom, Quincy; Kathi Rosenkoetter and her husband Roger, Quincy; Anne Penrose and her husband Steve, St. Louis, MO; Barb Fusselman, Quincy; Mary Jo Terwelp and her husband Tim, Quincy; Pat Owens and her husband Steve, Liberty, IL; Julie Flynn and her husband Mike, Quincy; Amy Roberts and her husband Steve, O'Fallon, MO; one aunt, Doris Richards and her husband Warren, Quincy; numerous nieces and nephews, friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his father-in-law Joseph Schneider.

Funeral Services will be 9:30 am Tuesday, September 24, at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home and at 10:00 am in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rev. Michael Kuse officiating. Burial in will be in Greenmount, Quincy, Illinois. The family will receive friends from 3-7 pm Monday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Exchange Club Services will be held Monday at 5:00 pm at the funeral home, and a Parish Wake Service will immediately follow this service. Memorial contributions may be made to Blessing Hospital Cancer Center or St. Mary's Catholic School.
