Mary Louise Mester

Mary Louise Mester, age 91, Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 1020 Jackson died Saturday morning, July 28, 2001 at 2:45AM in Good Samaritan.

She was born April 6, 1910 in New Madrid, Missouri, the daughter of John Lawson and Birdie Mae St. Mary Ransburgh. On December 2, 1931, she married Erving T. Mester in Quincy, Illinois. He preceded her in death September 6, 1966 in Quincy, IL.

She attended Blessing School of Nursing. She was a night supervisor at Good Samaritan Home and then a house mother at Blessing School of Nursing. She was also an instructor in Blessing Nursing Educational Department. Mrs. Mester was an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ of Christ and served on numerous committees. She was a 50 year member of Alpha Chapter #109 of the Order of Eastern Star, Miriam Shrine, Daughter of Nile, Ansarettes and was very active in PTA work. She was a member and past president of Eagles Auxiliary.

Survivors include 3 children, William E. Mester and his wife Jo Ann, Quincy; Barbara A. Turi and her husband Leonard, Lansing, IL; John T. Mester and his wife Rebecca, Quincy; 6 grandchildren, Leonard A. Turi, Jr. and his wife Heather, Macomb, IL; Amber E. Turi, Berwyn, IL; Melissa M. Mester, Mary Ann Mester, John E. Mester, and Jordan T. Mester, all of Quincy; a brother, John Lawson Ransburgh, Sturgis, MS and a sister, Virginia Ann Recker, New Madrid, MO. She was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren William T. "Ted" Mester and Jennifer A. Mester, 3 brothers, Albert, Clay and June Ransburgh and 3 sisters, Hazel Decker, Evalyn Berry and Gladys Appuhn.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday morning at 11AM in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Rev. Timothy A. White officiating. Burial in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois. The family will receive friends from 4-7pm Monday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Eastern Star Services will be Monday at 6:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ or the Shriner's Children's Hospitals.
