Lena Doris Wemhoner, age 85, formerly of Warsaw, died Saturday (Feb 25, 2012) at 4:30 am in Sunset Apartments at 301 No 8th in Quincy.
Lena was born December 20, 1926 in Warsaw, IL, the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Leona J. Whener Meeker She was married to Raymond Albert Wemhoner. He preceded her in death.
Lena was a graduate of Warsaw Community High School. She attended Burlington Beauty Academy in Burlington, IA. She worked as a hairdresser in Warsaw and Quincy. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Warsaw. Lena enjoyed embroidery work, listening to music and watching baseball and basketball on television.
Survivors include: four children, Ronald (Darnell) Wemhoner of Terrytown, LA; Linda (Daniel) Maass of Bloomington, IL; Donald (Peggy) Wemhoner of Peoria, AZ; and Pamela (Greg) James of Tifton, GA; a brother Arthur (Edith) Meeker; 12 grandchildren, John (Dawn) Wemhoner, Joseph (Michelle) Wemhoner, Matthew Anderson, Tara (Gabriel) Stubblefield, Kathryn, Suzanna and Joshua Maass, Michael, Lindsey and Valerie Wemhoner, and Elizabeth and Rebecca James; and 11 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Lena was preceded in death by: her parents, a brother Harvey Meeker and a sister-in-law Betty Ann Meeker.
Services: 11 am Wednesday (Feb 29, 2012) at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Rev Julie AzBell officiating.
Burial: Oakland Cemetery, Warsaw, Illinois
Visitation: 4 - 7 pm Tuesday (Feb 28, 2012) at Hansen-Spear.
