Herbert Oscar Wolf, age 87, of 3312 Crestview Drive, Quincy died January 28, 2012, at 9:45 am in Good Samaritan Home.

Herb was born October 12, 1924 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Albert and Katherine Dietrich Wolf.   He married Patricia M. Duesterhaus on October 25, 1947 in Quincy.  She survives.

Herb retired from Electric Wheel Company.  He was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church.  He loved playing cards, bowling, golf, reading, watching the St. Louis Cardinals,  and spending time with his family.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his five children, Cheryl Brooks of Weldon Springs, MO,  Katie (Ray) Budding of St. Louis, MO,  Nancy Meyer of Libertyville, IL,  Don (Karen) Wolf of Hopkinton, MA, and Jill (Bob) Hermesmeyer of Quincy, IL: 12  grandchildren, Rex (Naoka) Hinkamper of Hohenfels, Germany, Tricia (Ben) Johnson of Libertyville, IL, Abby (Jamie) Drew of Hilton Head, SC,  Katie Hermesmeyer of Chicago, IL, Daniel (Cara) Wolf of Chugiak, AK, Kari Hermesmeyer of Chicago, IL, Rachel Heil of Chicago, IL, Mary Wolf of Anchorage, AK, Julie Banning of Chicago, Kelly (Scott) Pierceall of Quincy, IL, Matthew and Jonathan Wolf of Hopkinton, MA; 6 great-grandchildren, Raimu Hinkamper of Hohenfels, Germany, Baily and Brooke Pierceall of Quincy, Henry and Ellie Johnson of Libertyville, IL, and Greta Wolf of Chugiak, AK.

Herbert was preceded in death by his parents and his sons, James Ross and Jack Wolf; a sister, Rosella Wolf; 4 brothers, Melvin, Paul, Dan and Jim Wolf; two sons-in-law, Rodney Hinkamper and Peter Meyer; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Wolf, and two granddaughters, Kristie Banning and Brooke Hermesmeyer.

Herbert donated his body to Washington University in St. Louis, MO.

Memorial Service: 6:00 pm Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Father Tom Shaughnessy officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Tuesday January 31, 2012 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home

And I remember how much I looked forward to visits to Uncle Albert's and Aunt Katie's farm when Grandma Dietrich was still living. It's heartbreaking to lose all of these good, God-fearing people.
