Joanne S. Elsbernd,age 64, 4246 Bunker Drive, Quincy,died Friday night,November 24, 2000 at 11:45 P.M. in her home.
She was born September 23, 1936 in Denver, Colorado,the daughter of John Strachan and Jeannette DiIullo Strachan She was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy in Denver and attended Denver University. On June 4,1959, she married Gerald Elsbernd in Denver,CO. He survives.
Mrs. Elsbernd was a member of St. John's Church of All Saints Parish and the All Saints Quilters, Spring Lake Country Club, Women's City Club and Blessing Volunteers. She enjoyed knitting, reading and playing bridge and her 2 baby grandsons were the light of her life.
Survivors in addition to her husband are 3 sons, Curtis A. Elsbernd, Belmont, CA, Douglas J. Elsbernd and his wife Maureen, Ogden, IL, Brian D. Elsbernd and his wife Cheryl Levine, Washington, D.C. and a daughter, Christine Collins and her husband Tim, Germantown, TN; 2 grandsons, Nathan Elsbernd, Ogden, IL; and Sullivan Collins, Germantown, TN, 3 sisters, Mary Jessie Anderson & her husband Leon, El Paso, TX, Jeannette Cox, Phoenix, AZ and Ann Turk and her husband Wayne, Fairfax, VA. She was preceded in death by by her parents.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, November 28, 2000 at 9:30am in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home and at 10:00am in St. John's Church of All Saints Parish, Rev. Robert Jallas officiating. Burial in Sunset Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois. The family will receive friends Monday from 4to 7 P.M. at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 4:00pm. Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints School andor Blessing Foundation for Hospice andor Habitat for Humanity.
