Nora L. Abbot t, age 87, of Brighton Pavilion and formerly of 527 Broadway

Quincy, died Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at the Blessing Hospital.

She was born November 20, 1912 in Macon, Missouri, the daughter of Bert B. Abbott and Laura Juanita Rogers Abbott.

Miss Abbott had been office manager for 35 years for Vidas Transfer and later was employed in nursing at the Illinois Veterans' Home. She was a 1932 graduate of Blackburn , Missouri High School. She was a charter member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Quincy and a former member of the First Baptist Church in Dothan, Alabama. She was an active member of Grace Whipple Chapter, O.E.S. where she was Past Matron; a member of White Shrine of Jerusalem; a member of Daughters of the Nile and past High Priestess; ABEBA Temple #42, a member of the Loyal Order of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary; R.S.V.P., Salvation Army Auxiliary and former Vice president. Miss Abbott was an active bowler and organized the Women's International Bowling Congress and served as the Quincy Chapter's first secretary.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Clara Edmondson, Jefferson City, Mo numerous nieces & nephews, dear friend, Mary Renard, Quincy. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers William (Bert) Abbott and Leslie H. Abbott and a sister Mae Clarkson

Funeral Services will be 11 A.M. Friday, January 21, at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Rev. Tom Rains officiating. Burial in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7PM Thursday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Grace Whipple Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star will conduct services Thursday evening at 6:30PM at the funeral h ome.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Southern Baptist Church or Shriners' Children's Hospital.
