John J. Siwek, 84, 1615 Elm, Quincy, died Sunday, January 9, 2000 at the home.

He was born July 12, 1915 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Tad Siwek and Anna Dudek Siwek.

On February 10, 1944 he married Eunice L. Timme in St. Francis Catholic Church. She survives at the home.

Mr. Siwek was self-employed at Quality Shoe Service for 25 years. He was then employed in the Shoe Department of State Street Store for 15 years. He had also worked part time at Quincy Raceways for 20 years where he was awarded the Golden Eagle Award in 1994. After retirement he was the Art Instructor at St. Anthony's School for 10 years. Mr. Siwek was a graduate of Sioux Falls, South Dakota High School and attended the International Shoe Trade School for 2 years. Mr. Siwek served in the U. S. Navy 2 years during World War II . Mr. Siwek was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and sang in the choir. He was also a member of 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Siwek was a member of the Moose Lodge and served 2 years as District President. He also was a member of the Illinois State Board of Directors where he held many offices including Governor.

Survivors in addition to his wife are a son, Larry D. Siwek and his wife Patsy, Quincy; daughter, Janice A. Scott and her husband Bob, Quincy; 7 grandchildren, Carrie R. Elbe and her husband Joshua, Quincy; , Travis J. Siwek, Quincy; , Aaron M. Wheelan, Quincy; , Sarah E. Siwek, Quincy; , Andrew P. Siwek, Quincy; , Jeffry A. Scott and his wife Shari, Quincy; , Rebecca K. Goehl and her husband Michael W., Quincy; 1 great grandchild, Kayla M. Goehl, Quincy; sister, Helen Cavanaugh, Davenport, Ia..

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Teddy and 2 sisters Wanda and Alice

Funeral Services will be held at 9:30AM in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home and at 10 A.M. Wednesday, January 12, at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church, Rev. Austin Albers, O.F.M. officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7P.M. Tuesday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 6 P.M. at the funeral home. The Loyal Order of Moose will conduct Moose services Tuesday evening at 6:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
