Gertie Marie Esveld age 82, formerly of 721 No. 27th, Quincy died Friday, January 28, 2000 at the Sunset Home.
She was born November 28, 1917 in Harrison, So. Dakota, the daughter of Peter Olivier and Johanna DeVelder Olivier.
On June 8, 1945, she married Rev. G. Russell Esveld in Corsica, S.D.. He preceded her in death on January 4, 1979.
Mrs. Esveld was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Women's Association and has received an honorary membership from them, Tuesday morning Prayer Group and Church Women United.
Survivors include 3 children, Phyllis Pothoven & her husband Marvin, Quincy, Il. Kenneth Esveld & his wife Louise, Otley, Iowa, Muriel Busing & her husband Wayne, Fort Wayne, IN. 4 grandchildren, Steven Pothoven , Muskegon, Mi., David Pothoven & his wife Vicki, Rock Island, Il.; , Peter & Ruth Esveld, Otley, Iowa; brother, Marion Olivier & his wife Ruth, Corsica, S.D..
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother John Olivier and a grandson Timothy Russell Esveld.
Funeral Services will be 2 P.M. Monday, January 31, at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Rev. Rod Bakker officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Monday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
