Elsie V. Entsminger, 81, 2507 Herrli Drive, formerly of 2804 College Ave.,Quincy, died Saturday, January 1, 2000 at Blessing Hospital at 4:33 A.M.

She was born November 11, 1918 in Moberly, Missouri, the daughter of John Davis and Jane Minor Davis.

On 1-9-1937, she married Karl Alva Entsminger in Quincy, Il.. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1990. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1987.

Mrs. Entsminger had worked at Gardner-Denver Co. for several years as a secretary and as a secretary at Modern Iron Works. She had also worked as a Nurse's Aide at Blessing Hospital and the Illinois Veterans' Home. She received the "Governor's Award" in 1971 in recognition of Excellent on the Job Achievement and Community Contributions. She had worked as a volunteer in the Alzheimer's Unit of the Veterans' Home.Mrs. Entsminger was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Our loving Mother and Grandmother has gone Home to meet her Lord!..Survivors include a daughter, Carol A. Carlson and her husband Ron L., Quincy, IL; son, Michael K. Entsminger, St.Louis, Mo.; 4 grandchildren, Pamela K. Kroll and her husband Mark, Overland Park, Ks , Kelly Beth Carlson, Lake Oswego, Oregon; , Jennifer Lauren Entsminger, Chesterfield, Mo , Matthew Ryan Entsminger, Austin, Tx.; 2 greatgrandchildren, Madison Grace and Barrett Kroll, Overland Park, Ks. and 3 sisters-in-law, Carlene R. 'Corky' Davis and Francis Davis, Quincy; , and Bess Drew, ACkley, Iowa and nieces and nephews, .

She also was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters Pearl Houghton and Mayme McElhoe and brothers Elmer and William T. Davis

Funeral Services will be 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, January 5, at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Rev. Alan Simonson officiating. Burial in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7PM Tuesday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Unit of the Illinois Veterans' Home
